My work is being featured on FoundFolios.com’s new event banner. (I’m on the right-hand side.) Somebody there likes me!
I was recently contacted by mathematician Marta Mach-Stadler for permission to use my illustration “Running Addiction” for her faculty blog. Dr. Mach-Stadler was looking for a good Mobius strip illustration when she came across this one, which she really liked. You can check out the post, with a nice description of my work here.
Happy New Year! 2013 is off to an auspicious start for me already with my first cover for C-ville hitting the stands today. It’s my first cover for anything available locally like this, and it’s really cool to drive around town and see my artwork everywhere! This is a slight departure from my usual […]
My copy of the Directory of Illustration No. 29 arrived today, and I have to say I’m pretty excited! This is my first time in the Directory and a quick perusal of its many, many pages makes me feel like I fit right in. For all you art directors out there, I’m on page 527. For everyone […]
NBC29 WVIR Charlottesville, VA News, Sports and Weather One of my clients, up-and-coming TeeGee Toys, was recently featured in a local TV news segment. Even cooler (for me, at least!) is that you can see part of the illustration I did for their New York Toy Fair display on Tom’s iPhone when he’s demonstrating how […]
I was recently asked by a publisher to submit a PDF of my portfolio by postal mail and immediately felt both excitement and panic. Excitement for the obvious reason, panic because my brain was finding it impossible to resurrect a clear set of images that fit what was being asked of me. “A PDF…in the mail? Like, […]
My children’s illustration Hot Spot, done for HappyReading.org, was chosen as Illustration of the Week by the good folks over at FoundFolios.com. Here’s what they had to say: This week’s illustration winner is Charlottesville artist Scott DuBar, for his cute, colorful kid-friendly image of (we like to think) a future Internet mogul on her first […]
Got a t-shirt in the mail today from client Paul Oelerich, editor of Utah Adventure Journal. The shirts are for the magazine’s sponsored racing team and features an illustration I did for them awhile back for an article titled “Mountain Men Don’t Wear Hot Pink.” Very cool of them to send me one and I […]
I recently completed a giant display illustration for TeeGee Toys, who will be first-time exhibitors at the 2012 New York Toy Fair this Feb 12-14. At 10’x8′ it is literally the biggest job I’ve ever had! I’m super excited that my work will be on display at one of the coolest events in the world. […]
A personal piece I did has been featured in the latest FoundXposed newsletter. The theme was “portal” and submissions were specifically requested to be from our personal work. I was especially fortunate to be the only illustrator featured, although I hope in the future more illustrators will get some love!
