I got contacted last Fall by local design studio The Ivy Group to work on a really great project for the Pennsylvania Department of Education. They were updating the look of their online library, Power Kids, and needed a couple of illustrations of Ben Franklin, and one of a friendly librarian.

I had a great time working on this. Not only was it a fun project, but everyone involved was really great to work with as well. You can check out the site here: http://kids.powerlibrary.org/Remote/Remote.asp?ID=eCard

Can’t Hurt Me: Utah Adventure Journal

I’m pretty eager to put winter behind me, but before I do, I’ve still got a couple of snow-themed illustrations to share. This one was for an article about the death-defying outdoor hi-jinks men perform, but never tell their wives about. (In this case, ignoring the avalanche warnings for the day.)

I love when I get the chance to have elements break out of the frame, and the avalanche seemed like a perfect opportunity to do just that.

Here’s a t-shirt design I did for a new publication called Ascent Backcountry Snow Journal. It’s almost enough to make me miss the snow, but not quite!

Oh, Marvel. Why do you make such awesome movies, yet such poorly Photoshopped movie posters?

Went to the downtown library today with some of the Urban Sketchers. Had a nice view of the street from a cozy window seat in the children’s book section. #urbansketchers #sketchbook

Super Bowl Sunday sketching before the crowds came.

Met with the Urban Sketchers this Super Bowl Sunday at Buffalo Wild Wings. We got there well before the big crowds came, which was good since that gave us plenty of time to sketch, eat and talk without feeling pressured to give up our table. First image was colored digitally at home.

Happy tofu turkey Thanksgiving! The idea for this gag came to me in a dream, and even though it’s a little weird, I thought it would be fun to go ahead and just make it into a Thanksgiving greeting card and post it for sale on zazzle. I tried a tofurky (turkey made of tufu) once and, even though I love tofu and vegetarian food, it was awful. Somehow, I expect turfu would be equally awful.

You can buy the card from my zazzle store here: http://www.zazzle.com/anti_tofurkey_thanksgiving-137398208032657101

    Tee Time and Tailgating

Here’s an illustration for another newly-launched magazine, Integrity Golf. The article is about how football and golf pair up nicely among sports fans, and the art director wanted to see some fans tailgating on a golf course. I figured naturally they would choose to tailgate out of the back of their golf cart. You can read the full article online here.
