Cover Art for C-Ville Weekly
Happy New Year! 2013 is off to an auspicious start for me already with my first cover for C-ville hitting the stands today. It’s my first cover for anything available locally like this, and it’s really cool to drive around town and see my artwork everywhere! This is a slight departure from my usual work, but the art director wanted to avoid using any gun imagery after the recent shootings in New Haven. When we met, he had already worked out the idea of a cave painting and showing the women from the article with bows and arrows. -

Directory of Illustration is here!
My copy of the Directory of Illustration No. 29 arrived today, and I have to say I’m pretty excited! This is my first time in the Directory and a quick perusal of its many, many pages makes me feel like I fit right in. For all you art directors out there, I’m on page 527. For everyone else, wish me luck!

Running Addiction: Utah Adventure Journal
Latest editorial illustration for Utah Adventure Journal, for an article called Running Addiction, about the difficulty of giving up running for other outdoor activities. I thought a Mobius strip was a pretty good representation for any kind of addiction or habit we have trouble breaking. I had a lot of fun on this project and even used it for my last postcard campaign. The image actually looks good no matter how it’s oriented and I liked the idea of sending something like on a postcard since it invites the viewer to turn it around and look at it from all sides. -

Gee Whiz! I’m on TV! (sort of)
NBC29 WVIR Charlottesville, VA News, Sports and Weather
One of my clients, up-and-coming TeeGee Toys, was recently featured in a local TV news segment. Even cooler (for me, at least!) is that you can see part of the illustration I did for their New York Toy Fair display on Tom’s iPhone when he’s demonstrating how TeeGee works.

New York Toy Fair display illustration
I recently completed a giant display illustration for TeeGee Toys, who will be first-time exhibitors at the 2012 New York Toy Fair this Feb 12-14. At 10’x8′ it is literally the biggest job I’ve ever had! I’m super excited that my work will be on display at one of the coolest events in the world. Below are some shots of me with the final display before it has its debut in NY.

Featured Profile on I’d Rather Be Making Art

Caged I was recently interviewed in a feature profile for the art blog I’d Rather Be Making Art. This marks my very first interview, which is a fun and super-cool little milestone for me. It also happens to be a pretty cool art blog with plenty of other interesting articles and features. You can check out my piece along with some of my illustrations here.
