Happy tofu turkey Thanksgiving! The idea for this gag came to me in a dream, and even though it’s a little weird, I thought it would be fun to go ahead and just make it into a Thanksgiving greeting card and post it for sale on zazzle. I tried a tofurky (turkey made of tufu) once and, even though I love tofu and vegetarian food, it was awful. Somehow, I expect turfu would be equally awful.

You can buy the card from my zazzle store here: http://www.zazzle.com/anti_tofurkey_thanksgiving-137398208032657101

  • Kid Hercules Comes Alive!

Here it is! I’ve been waiting for this moment for quite awhile- the moment when I could bring Kid Hercules to life! During the course of my 365 challenge,  a friend of mine suggested I do a walk cycle, and then animate it later. The second gif shows the untouched scans from my sketchbook. As you can see, I wasn’t able to properly align my “frames” since I drew them in a Moleskine. Even after cleaning things up a bit in Photoshop, Kid Hercules is still a little jittery, but it was super fun to do and I’m oddly proud to see my character come to life after working on him for such a long time.

Here’s just a few samples of my ongoing 365 challenge for a character I’m developing called Kid Hercules. I actually completed the challenge back in April, but have a pretty big backlog of images to upload. This has been such a great project and something that has helped improve my work in ways I never expected!

You can follow my progress over at kidhercules365.blogspot.com and check out everything I’ve been able to post so far.

The Power of No | Client: Common Ground Magazine
San Francisco’s Common Ground magazine is leading up to its 40th anniversary with an issue devoted to the importance of humor. Editor Rob Sidon, who knew me from my days doing comics and short animations for a meditation center in India, called me up to ask if I had anything on hand. Alas, I had none. But that didn’t stop me from putting pencil to paper.
The first one, like most good humor, is actually based on a true event. The second one I did is a variation on an idea I had for a Grumpy Cat meme playing off Ekhart Tolle’s The Power of Now.
You can check them both out, along with the whole issue, here: http://www.sopdigitaledition.com/commonground/#/20/
